Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult

I've always enjoyed reading mystery books. The suspense makes me never want to put down the book. Nineteen Minutes written by Jodi Picoult, starts the first chapter off by foreshadowing what's going to happen later in the story. The book takes place in New Hampshire. It revolves around a guy named Peter who grew up with a girl named Josie. Ever since Peter was younger, he's always been placed in the "loser" crowd. As Josie grew up, she began to become popular and stopped associating herself with Peter. He fell deeply in love with her, and the feeling wasn't mutual. He suffered every day knowing she felt embarrassed to even associate herself with him.

Peter endured endless bullying, he lived in a small town called Sterling, in New Hampshire therefore he attended elementary school, middle school and high school with the same kids. After many years of not standing up for himself, he reached his breaking point. Peter became full of rage and hatred he had nineteen minutes to seek revenge.

The book is so hard to put down! There's so many twists and turns. I highly recommend this book to every senior.

  1. I love this book review. It makes me want to go out to get the book now and read it. This book interests me because it has a mixture of romance and drama in the plot. I have always heard of and saw people read Jodi Picoult's book and always wondered. Now I know that I have to read at least one of her books. I also like how the plot is centered on young adult drama so I will be able to relate to the characters and events. After we are done this entire genre reading project, that will be the first book I get. The only thing I am worried about is the size of the book. Jodi Picoult's book tends to have 300+ pages and I usually stray away from large books. But from the summary above, I do not think the page count will affect me if it is so interesting! : )

  2. It's honestly one of my favorite books so far. It's kind of sad, at lunch time Ben caught me reading it. It's hard to put down. She's such a great author and puts a lot of effort in molding characters. As a reader, you get to fully understand the problems the characters face and you see their perspective on their experiences.
