The Shining(make up wk1)

In the beginning of the book you find out that the new inhabitants of the overlook hotel are some what of a broken family. Jack is being interviewed for his job a the new care taker of the overlook. As jack is being interviewed he begins to notice things about Ullman that tick him off such as the vibe he gives off. They also go into Jacks previous job which he seems to be a little bit defensive about. At this point we discover Jack has a drinking problem which leds to violent out bursts. One leading to him breaking Danny's arm. The Alcoholism presented in a horror story is common because later on it leads to something the character regrets or most likely will fall into temption to drink to ease pain. After They end the interview Jack is taken on a tour around the hotel. jack becomes familiar with the hotel. Down in the basement Jack has a moment in which he revisits the night he broke Danny's arm. This is a re-occuring thought in his mind which pushes his family away from him.
