Titanic

The 1997 film excellence Titanic was an epic action and adventure movie. Throughout the film numerous encounters occurred between "Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater" who began to establish feelings for one another. Both living entirely different life styles knew the tragedy that would occur if Rose's family would discover the secret affairs of her and her lover Jack. This brought forth many complications between the two lovers. It lead to sneaking around all over the ship as well as avoiding at all cost getting seen by one of Roses family's friends. The film's setting is located on a vessel. Throughout these devious meeting's Rose goes on behind her Family and fiances back her and Jack wonder the ship from head to toe making sure they are never in plain sight. This film portraits an outstanding example of a Romantic Adventure. The film contains an incomparable plot, this is what gives the film its distinguishing outlook. This movie contains all sorts of action such as right before the ship sinks Jack is currently in a dilemma as he cant escape from the room he was being held captive in until his beloved Rose appears to rescue him from his decease. Films such as this one are movies of the decades and I highly recommend to take up some time to watch it. In my opinion this movie is an outstanding example for my genre and even if I have seen it a million times I do not mind watching it another million times.

Witness

Another one of Harrison Ford's classics is the famous late 20th century 'Witness' starring Ford along with other famous actors including Danny Glover and James Earl Jones. After a young Amish woman and her son get caught up in the murder of an undercover narcotics agent, there is only one detective they can turn to, John Book. Harrison Ford was the perfect fit for his role because he is the definition of an action/adventure actor. The movie is very unique too because it has scenes that don't involve that much action, even to the point where it can be called a romantic movie. However, the overall plot proves that it is in fact a action/adventure movie. Any Ford fans out there if you haven't already seen this movie, it is definitely one of his bests. From a young Amish boy witnessing a murder, to the extended romanticism included along with all the action in between, this film is a must see.

Lady and the Tramp Film Review

Lady and the Tramp is considered one of the best classic romantic Disney movies mde. The story of the relationship between a couple from two different worlds is a similar theme that appears in most romance movies except in this film, it is an animated and the protagonists are dogs. This movie is great for all ages and teaches people about friendship, love, loyalty, and family values.

Lady is a well-brought up Cocker Spaniel in an "upper class world" who belongs to a couple who she knows as "Jim Dear" and "Darling". After they have a baby, Lady feels lonely and left out because they pay more attention to the baby then her. However, the couple lets Lady know that they still love her and care for her just as much as they do with the baby. The couple goes away, and Aunt Sarah arrives to babysit, along with her Siamese cats. The cats destroy the living room and Aunt Sarah blames Lady. She puts a muzzle on her, and Lady runs away from home. She then meets Tramp, a stray dog who helps her with the muzzle, and they go on romantic adventures with each other.

The most famous scenes in cinema history, and my close favorite, is the scene where Lady and Tramp are sharing a plate spaghetti and meatballs on their first date. It is the cutest scene when they stare into each others eyes as the music is played by the chef and they are eating by the candlelight. They both eat the same piece of spaghetti, without knowing, and they almost touch noses. Because of this scene and movie, it has been imitated again and again because it is such a classic.

The romance between the two dogs is heartfelt and the music playing makes it just as cute and romantic. It is a very classic, warm and delightful film to watch. Of course, Lady and Tramp is the perfect example of a couple who come from opposite worlds with perfect chemistry which is genuine. Eventually, there will be a time where one or the other will have to change the way they live to live happily ever after. So in the end, Tramp is adopted by Jim Dear and Darling and is happily together with Lady.

2012

The movie 2012 goes on the basis of the Mayan calendar and prediction that the world is going to end on 2012. This movie is full of excitement and portrays the things that might happen that day. The adventure part is a bit more thrilling because the world is having climate changes and they need to go through those obstacles to get to where they need to be to live. Also this film is about the world but the movie is about a family that needs to get to safety to survive this day. Even though some of it is not entirely true, most things you can see happening in real life. International leaders from all over the world choose to make arks for a selected group of people, the actual number is 400,000, which the government sells tickets that are set at the price of 1 billion Euros each. The point to where they needed to get was the Himalayas where the ships were. Also many things help them throughout their journey like the weather which creates paths for them to walk through to other countries. . The main character is not a billionaire and is just a regular person. He and his family are not chosen to make this trip and also don’t have money for that. But they the father doesn’t want his family to die because they aren’t rich or weren’t chosen. When they get to the arcs there is trouble as many people go there but they don’t let them in. When the Arcs leaders see the people suffering and crying to get in, they let them all in because it’ll be unfair for just a certain group of people to be able to come in. So this movie shows more than just the action and adventure and, the big picture in my opinion is that everyone should have a chance of living no matter what.

Dracula FIlm Review

I watch Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula. It was made in 1992 and it was based on Bram Strokers Dracula. In the film, Jonathan Harker is assigned to a village in eastern europe and he is captured by dracula. When Jonathan is gone for over three months, Mina ( Winona Ryder), begins to get worried. Lucy, her best friend, is also worried because she had been planning their wedding. SHe also started her habit of sleepwalking again and she notices that every time she sleep walks she returns very pale. Dr Seward, the doctor who began looking after she began to notice that something wasnt right, thinks that she is anemic. But, he cant find any cause for it. Van Helsing begins a blood Transfusion on Lucy and places garlic around her bed. At the same time, Mina meets a man who introduces himself as prince Vlad of Szekely. But he is Dracula. THen Mina tries to go find Jonathan and Dracula takes Lucy as his bride. Mina and Jonathan then return to London to find that Lucy has "died". Then Jonathan, Van Helsing and his friends set out to find Dracula and to kill him. Mina ends up killing him by stabbing him by stabbing him in the heart with a sword and cutting off his head. I thought this movie was very good. I would give it a 9 out of 10.

Spiderman

The fiction storyline of Spiderman all began with comics and animations. This 21st century trilogy are outstanding films corresponding to the genre action and adventure. The Director Sam Raimi, and writer Stan Lee really outdid themselves with these fantastic piece of work. The first piece of the trilogy, Spiderman, their was a migration from all area's of new york. There was classic villain as well as a fascinating plot. Some critics may claim the film did not reach its high expectations because it did not follow the comic book crucially. In my opinion to adopt the film to relate to the comic as often as it did makes the piece of work very intriguing and deserves to get full credit for the fact that it is a very difficult comic to follow. The Second and third parts as well have these arguments brought to them. Though critics bring forth many harsh comments about the films they still follow many of the basic rules of an action and adventure genre which in my opinion is an excruciating aspect to cover. The comics of Spiderman are truly classics, the films are a great adaptation of the comics and contain many conflicts as well as many setting changes. If anyone has yet not witnessed any of these films I recommend tuning into it when ever you have any free time on your hands. Do not let critiques bring you any hesitation, watch it yourselves and make the judgment on your own.

I am CAPTIVATED by Red Corner !

The mystery movie I chose to watch was the 1997's Red Corner featuring Richard Gere. The genre of this movie was unclear at the beginning of the movie. It started with the main character, Jack Moore, being seduced by a Chinese woman and having a one-night stand with her. From the first scene you would assume it was a romance movie, but when Jack was awoken in the morning, covered in blood, by the Chinese police the entire movie changed. Jack is being accused of killing the asian woman but he keeps repeating he is a U.S Citizen thinking that would help. When he request to get an attorney and talk to the American Embassy, the strict Chinese Police points to a quote on the wall. It read: "Leniency for those who confess, Severity to those that resist.", and when Jack screams he is not resisting he is slapped with force.

This movie shows how harsh the government in other countries can be. He is not allowed to have an out of country lawyer representing him in court. Throughout the movie, it is repeated that there must be respect given to Chinese legal system. They honor honesty and confessing to committing a crime instead of resisting their charges. The movie presents how bias and unfair the law can be towards an outsider. Jack is constantly being ridiculed and abused because he is sought as killer to the Chinese Officials. This mistreatment towards him makes the viewer question the loyalty or truthfulness of the people who surround Jack.

The mystery behind this movie is the question of what really happened that night. The huge gap in the movie leaves the viewer questioning everything including Jack's insanity. It is hard to choose sides in this movie (China's legal system or Jack Moore) because of the missing scene. The evidence points to Jack killing the woman but he could have been framed. The movie makes the viewer believe that. The Chinese legal system side has very good points. They see him as an outsider from the United States which is filled with more crime than China.

Overall this movie keeps the viewer interested and intrigued. The many obstacles and mysteries that Jack Moore goes through to prove his innocence keeps the viewer captivated. It also keeps you at the edge of your seat awaiting the next twist or turn in the movie.

Jumanji

I remember when I was a kid they showed this movie on TV called Jumanji and I loved it. I never really understood the storyline but as a kid it was fun to watch. The movie is about two kids finding an old game that sets loose a bunch of wild animals and the only way to stop them is by completing the game. This movie is similar to the movie Zathura which was based off of Jumanji. The movie might not be that great compared to recent movies but this movie was made in 1995 so all those special effects were pretty new during that time. Many people like it for its entertainment but the story line is original.

This movie has four main characters that are two kids from the future and two kids from the past, what I found strange as a kid was that when the first two kids found the game it skipped a couple of years into the future which I never understood when I was a kid. At the end of the movie the characters meet up again in the future after the game was over and everything went back to normal. Unlike most action adventure movie that mostly depends on the characters ability to solve problems and tasks this movie seems to depend on characters luck but that would make sense because after all this movie is based around a game.

This movie has satisfied the requirements for action adventure because the hero/heroine of the movie is faced with a problem and in order to solve the problem they have to overcome many obstacles to reach their goal. In the end they accomplish their goal and everyone lives happily ever after. This movie has satisfied those requirements and like everything has its ups and down but this is a great movie that many people would enjoy.

Air Force One

Whether he's Indiana Jones or Han Solo, you've probably heard of the famous Harrison Ford. One of his major 90's role was in the film Air Force One. In this movie, he plays the president of the United States. The film starts out on the presidents personal plane, also known as 'Air Force One'. Throughout the movie terrorists take over the plane and try to force the president to release a Russian radical general who no one is a fan of. If you're familiar with Harrison Ford films, you probably know that he always wins. This can be considered a modern action-adventure film at least comparing it to the 1960's version of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, and the book Treasure Island which is so much of a classic, it was published in another century. Many scenes jump around mostly between the plane, and on land, with the whole White House and Presidential Cabinet trying their hardest to make sure their president isn't killed. This film is definitely a classic and one of Ford's best. I've attached the link to the trailer if any of you are interested. I highly recommend watching this film.

Titanic: Film Review

I can say that we can mostly agree that Titanic is one of the most famous and memorable romance film of all time. It took us from present day to about 80 years ago to when the Titanic was first introduced. To me, watching this film felt like a dream because the way the film was made . To everyone, the Titanic was called "the ship of dreams". Cameron made this happen by his amazing ability to replicate the ship from the size to the intricate designs of the doors. It is a great portrayal of what modern technology can contribute to romantic and dramatic storytelling.

Jack is the poor artist who wins a ticket to board the Titanic from a poker game and Rose is a rich American girl who is engaged to a rich, cold hearted man. Jack first sees Rose on deck and instantly is swooned over by her appearance. They eventually get to know each other. As their friendship grows, their attraction for each other grows. Their love for each other is clearly shown from all the sneaking around and the famous scene of when Jack creates a portrait of Rose with her necklace. Of course their would be conflict between Rose and her mother, Rose and her fiancee, and Jack and her mother and fiancee. Just as the conflicts get more complicated, Titanic hits an iceberg and starts to sink. I loved this special effect and was amazed at how real it looked, because it was the climax of the movie. As people are jumping off the ship or dropped into it, Rose and Jack are sticking with each other, hand in hand, staying alive for the other.

Not only does James Cameron, the director of the film, capture us with his special effects, but he never ceases to make it all about the protagonists. No matter what happened, Rose and Jack are always seen together in the spotlight. From this film, you can see the heated romance and how much they cared for on another just by how they look at each other in the eyes. My favorite scene of all was when Jack helped Rose up on top of a floating door and held hands in the freezing waters until he dies. Rose, still alive, begged him to come back to life but in the end, she eventually had to let him go. To the end, Rose still care for Jack as the movie transitions back to the present of her at the age of 101. This film is a great depiction of romance and lasting love, where the romance between them never dies and never will.

The Skeleton Key

I watched the Skeleton Key last night, it was interesting because it kind of reminds me of The Shining. In The Skeleton Key, Kate Hudson is a caretaker for an old man who is paralyzed from shoulders and down. She sees there is something wrong with him and the mans wife seems very suspicious as well. Then at the end she realizes that there is a whole past to the couple and that the house is somewhat possessed and its all really creepy! I enjoyed watching this and wish that there was a book that I could read that was more similar to this!! I reallllly reallly do! Scary movies are weird to watch, especially when having to compare them to a book. Extremely weird! YEAH!

Treasure Island

This outstanding novel contains extraordinary aspects to it. In my opinion this novel contains innumerable amount of action scenes compared to 20000 leagues under the sea. They are both incredible novels but 20000 Leagues Under The Sea fails in comparison to Treasure Island because of the action that occurs in Treasure Island. I recommend both novels to anyone looking for an exceptional literal experience. For someone looking for an action novel all the way through I recommend Treasure Island. This novel contains an innumerable amount of conflicts which keeps a reader fascinated throughout the entire novel. Once one begins reading this novel they enter an entirely new world and get sucked into the novels fascinating plot and distinguishing conflicts. The novel’s conflicts vary from gun shots, to fist fighting, even to cannon shots. There is a never ending situation of who is going to obtain the treasure because the greed begins to blindside even the people who were initiate aiming for the same goal. These conflicts cant ever be overruled for the simple fact that each person want to obtain as much of the treasure as possible. In my opinion this sets a demarcation for the future of action and adventure novels. If you ever obtain any free time I recommend spending it reading this novel. I cannot stress how outstanding this book has turned out to be, I am satisfied that me and my group made the choice to read this outstanding novel.

Dracula

I am now reading Dracula and in the story Jonathan Harker goes to Castle Dracula in Transylvania to finish a real estate transaction with Count Dracula. In the beginning of the story, many of the peasants and local townspeople give him crucifixes and other things that fight off evil spirits. As Harker is leaving, the hotel managers wife begs him to take a crucifix with him to keep evil away. Jonathan remains confused by this. I find that Dracula is surprisingly similar to Frankenstein. In both stories, the main character must travel north in order to find someone or something. Jonathan is writing in his journal just like in Frankenstein where the main character is keeping a journal as he makes his way up north. He's t raveling through Buda-Pesth.Castle Dracula didn’t appear on any maps he looked at of Transylvania that he looked at in England. Johnathan is weirded out by the counts ability to communicate with wolves. I think that it is crucial to the story that Dracula does not have any servants around. When Jonathan Harker asks the hotel owner about Count Dracula, the hotel owner and his wife don’t answer, which causes him to be confused. I am really enjoying Dracula.

Continuation of The Time Traveler's Wife

As of right now, I am almost finished with The Time Traveler's Wife. Henry and Clare are officially married but their married life has changed from when they were dating. All is more complicated and "boring" because they hardly talked like they used to. They both learn new things about each other that they have never noticed or asked before. Henry is time traveling in and out but never traveling from the past visiting from little Clare anymore. Clare is longing for a baby but with the current situation, Henry is afraid of the consequences. Henry seeks help from a Dr. Kendrick who he believes can help with this genetic disease. Dr. Kendrick is planning on injecting Henry's DNA into mice and making them time travel to figure out the cure.

It is amazing how this novel and can get better and better every time I turn the page. Niffenegger's technique of writing evokes our emotions and makes us picture ourselves as Clare and Henry, and understand their standing point of the situation. Henry goes back in time, revisiting the past, but returning to the present with nothing but sadness because the people in his life changed or gone. Clare is in the situation that she knows what her future is going to be like, based on what Henry tells her, but she can't do or say anything to change it because time decided for her.

In the past chapters, Niffenegger introduces the idea of escaping isolation through Henry. He talks about the "Cage" that is located in the middle staircase at the library, where he works. With no entrance or exit, Henry eventually time travels inside the Cage, behind bars, separated from the outside world, and not being able to find a way out of it. Henry is isolated from the world because he is the only one, to his knowledge, who can time travel and no one understands him. However, as time passes, Henry is in the position that he has to tell someone besides his wife and family because he is found naked or he disappeared out of the blue. Besides Dr. Kendrick, Henry's bosses/colleagues also know about his illness.

FOUND: The Sole Survivor Movie!

In the year 2000, the book The Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz was made into a movie format. I am so happy because I liked to see a book preformed visually after I read it. It opens up my eyes to new aspects of the story that I did not notice from the reading. This movie can be compared to several movies. Any movie that has a family or family member that suffers a great lost of relative(s) is similar to Sole Survivor. One of my favorite movies that reminds me this book is "The Things we lost in the fire". It was about a family who had lost their father in a incident where he was shoot trying to be a hero. The pain and depression are similar in both works. The mood and feelings of the characters made them more real and easy to connect to them. I have yet to finish the book, but I will need to track down the movie soon. Hopefully it is modern and upbeat as I envisioned. But I will keep you guys posted especially with a Movie Review!

Enclosed in the mysterious and lonely world of Joe Carpenter....

The second book my group chose to read is The Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz. I enjoy this book more than the previous one we read. Compared to Agatha Christie's The ABC Murders, I am more interested in this book because the plot is faster paced . The events in Dean Koontz story are more realistic than the ones in ABC Murders. The Sole Survivor is about a guy, Joe, who lost his whole family in a plane crash. Ever since the crash he has been in solitude waiting to die. It was on the one year anniversary of the crash, that he found a purpose to live. A survivor from the crash found him but was immediately chased by people wanting to kill her. The mysteriousness of this women filled Joe with questions and sends him on an adventure to find her and answers. Joe is not only confused by how the woman is still alive from this catastrophic crash but how him or the public did not know of her before. From the first page of this story the reader is instantly connected to the protagonist Joe Carpenter. When he feels depressed the reader feels depressed, and when he hurts they hurt too. It starts to feel like the reader and Joe Carpenter is one emotionally and mentally. One reason this book is a page turner because it is filled with constant cliff hangers and surprising twist and turns. From the start to the end of the story the reader will find themselves wanting to read this book 24/7. So you will find me on the C or F train enclosed in the mysterious and lonely world of Joe Carpenter and the sole survivor.

Treasure Island

The book starts out as a story about how a little boy ordinary life was interrupted by a pirate that started to live in his in. Once the pirate arrives at the inn weird things started to happen that causes people to die and starts a treasure hunt. The little boy call Jim thought that the treasure hunt would be an exciting adventure and while it is an exciting adventure it turns out completely different from how he expected. Shortly after they set out for the island with the treasure Jim discovers that many people on the ship plans on starting a mutiny and plan on taking the treasure for themselves. Jim is now on the run with a couple of honest people trying to defend against the mutineers. The story point of view changes in the middle to another person on the boat who was a doctor called Doctor Livesey where he gathers the few honest people in the crew and try to fight back but already they have a bad start. Shortly after Jim the main character of the story takes some unexpected risks and decides to get rid of the mutineer’s ship but gets trapped on the ship when his boat gets destroyed. This book has many unexpected twists in the story line like the supposedly friendly cook ending up being the leader of the mutineers. Although there was a little hint in the beginning warning the reader it still seems unexpected considering how friendly he was even though it was an act. It also seems unfair for Jim because one day he was living a normal life with his parents when all of a sudden he was pulled into the world of pirates where anything can happen to anyone.

Time for Reality

As the story of The Time Traveler's Wife begins to unravel, so does the characters themselves. It is hard to keep track of where a certain character is because not all events are one after another, coinciding with each other. However, jumping from the present to past or in some cases, from the future to the present, brings up a new way of introducing characters and new information we learn about them that we haven't read about yet.

I am up to the point where the chapters talk about Christmastime, but in three different chapters, and the settings are in the past and the present. Besides the relationship between Clare and Henry, Niffenegger also focuses on the relationships between the protagonists and their families and how it affects their relationship in the future. Clare's parents are mainly concerned for their son Mark whose fiancee is pregnant and Henry's father is still grieving for his dead wife and is also an alcoholic. I have also passed the point where Henry proposes to Clare, which will mark a whole new beginning and problem for them especially with his time traveling in the way. Since the wedding is arriving, Henry decides to buy new drugs to "stall" his time travels until the wedding reception ends but something goes wrong and he heads to the hospital.

It can be overwhelming sometimes and maybe confusing because at one moment, Henry can be 25-years-old stealing someones clothes in the middle of the night, and in another he's 28-years-old visiting Clare's parents' home. But so far, the book is very interesting to the point how Clare can completely trust Henry even though she might not know where he is and what time he's in. Sometimes she forces herself to believe that everything will be and is alright.
