The Unexpected in Treasure Island
There are many events that happened in the novel Treasure Island that I think is unlikely to happened. The apparent of these event once again proved the book as fiction. It is like miracle happen all over the novel. Like how Jim stay in a flowing coracle in the ocean over night and wake up the next morning at another part of the island. It is an ocean, the current was unstable. The coracle might just flow out to the open water to nowhere. I guess Jim is a luck boy. Later on, Jim sneaked into Hispaniola (the ship) that was taken by pirate. For one reason, drinks. Somehow that Hispaniola only has two pirates and one turned out to be dead already. Only thing that is drinkable he found is alcohol. A teenage boy drinking ram in a pirate ship that is unbelievable. Also drinking alcohol doesn't really help with the thirst. It actually dehydrates the people who drink them. A boy who beats an experienced pirate, alone? That was amazing. Jim from this novel when it took place was about thriteen or fourteen at an early teen age. He was manage to beat a pirate name Hands one on one all by himself. He got a pistol but still, a boy beats a grownup who is also a pirate. This pirate had much more combat experience...He should really be ashamed of himself (yeah, i know he is dead). The boy swim toward the island with injury. I believe have a wound on you will affect the swimming ability and yet Jim made another miracle. He had a stable in his shoulder and can swim from Hispaniola to the shore of treasure island. Jim as a protagonist was very lucky talented, and skilled at almost anything. He face many situations but he always manage to get by. Especially he is only a teenage boy. I guess that is what a fictional novel is. Full of possibility.
