I am doing Romance, so I decided to read one of the Jane Austen's books, Sense and Sensibility. In the beginning of the story, it didn't seem like it would be a romance novel because it didn't show any of the aspects of Romance until later in the chapters. The main characters in the book are Elinor and Marianne Dashwood who each encounter a man that they fall in love with, but there is also conflict or drama in the story that changes how they would feel about that one person.
At first, the writing of Jane Austen seem to difficult to read because of the way she describes everything. It was also confusing because of the names, Austen used Mrs. Dashwood and Mrs. John Dashwood as names for two characters and it seem as though it was one character.
I think Sense and Sensibility would be a good book to read if you are doing Romance, because it shows many of the aspects of what a Romance novel should have. However, its a long book and it would take some time to finish it.
What did you like about the book? What made you want to start reading a Jane Austen novel as the first book?
