Dracula

The novel becomes really interesting after the first chapter. It starts with Harker taking a trip to the Castle of Count Dracula. During the trip to the castle, he hears wolves and gets really scared. He then got to the the castle and the Count gave him a warm welcome. They shook hands and even though Harker had a weird feeling about the Count's hand being so cold, he felt at ease. The author made the reader notice the physical appearance of the Count by mentioning that he has sharp teeth, pale skin, red eyes and sharp ears. Harker then noticed that when he woke up that there were no mirrors in the castle. Then Harker takes out his shaving mirror and shaves his beard. Then Count Dracula comes and Harker notices that he did not show up in his mirror and got scared and accidentally cut himself. Dracula got so motivated and excited when he saw the blood on Harker's neck. He tried and lick the blood up but he touched the crucifix that he had gotten from a lady in a Hotel before going to the Castle. He then throws away the mirror out the window. Dracula also tells Harker not to fall asleep in any other rooms besides his bedroom. As Harker was exploring the castle, he finds a room and there were three women with red lips and sharp teeth and Dracula comes and saves Harker and brings him to his bedroom.
I thought that the story has been going really fast because the author has been giving a lot of clues about Dracula and Harker already knows that something is wrong with Dracula. As each day goes by, he feels more awkward and wants to leave the castle. I also wonder why Dracula decided to save Harker instead of letting him die, which what readers would think would have happened to Harker.
