THE SHINING
I finally finished reading The Shining by Stephen King. It was a great book and I really enjoyed it. I'm now confused as to what to read next since I feel that no other horror story can live up to The Shining. The Shining was first published in 1977. It was Stephen King's third novel and the main characters are Jack and Wendy Torrance and their son, Danny. Jack Torrance is an ex alcoholic and he is a writer. His temper still gets the best of him, and between being frustrated about not having alcohol and his writing, he gets very angry and you soon find out that he had a violent past. He takes over as the manager of the Overlook Hotel. It is located in a remote area up in the mountains. It is snowed in for most of the winter and there is no way for Jack and his family to get down to civilization. Then, Dick meets Danny and he says that Danny shines stronger than anyone. Dick becomes concerned for danny and his families well being because he knows that although they cannot hurt Danny, they can hurt his family. In the end, Jack goes crazy and attacks his wife. This book was really good, I can't wait to read another!

The next book i would recommend reading is IT. Stephen King clearly no longer makes horror a physical aspect but also a psychological aspect. In IT the thing that haunts the characters is thier own fear.
